Day 32, Monday -- The End
Home After I made it to Agua Dulce, I was only 19 miles from Santa Clarita which is a tourist destination and has rental car services. The plan was to leave the trail to make it home for a surprise visit for our wedding anniversary and my daughter's birthday. After a few days to reflect, I've decided to make this the end of my journey. What I realize is that while I love backpacking, I love being with my wife and family more and it's lonely on the trail without her. A week or two is difficult enough but I just can't see me doing this for 4 more months. In the month I've been hiking, I lost 15lbs, survived snow and sleet, as well as desert heat. I averaged 18mi of hiking a day but more often than not, hiked 20 miles or more. I'm glad I did it and would recommend it to anyone. The positive vibes from other hikers and people on the trail was amazing, and the journey was something I'll always remember. 0 snakes observed. Location Post Location Statistics...
